The Payroll Manager manages a team of Payroll experts and payroll support administrators in our head office in Zwaagdijk for the Dutch payroll. He/she ensures that payroll (around 22000 payslips) is compliant and properly managed. He/she does everything possible to provide all employees with fast and accurate internal information, by improving processes and associated communication.


You will report to the Manager International Payroll and Support.  




Your tasks:

Managing and leading the team

  • Responsible for prioritising and coordinating tasks and responsibilities within his/her team (around 30 people)
  • Involves his or her team in the thought process and actively contributes to the development of new ideas, as well as learning from their own experiences and those of others
  • Keeps abreast of relevant developments in expertise and actively shares this knowledge within the department
  • Translates Group HR policy into local policy, sets and achieves targets
  • Responsible for the quality, timing and thoroughness of support provided to all employees
  • Ensures that written procedures, processes and work instructions are up to date and available


HR administration and support

  • Ensures an accurate and timely payroll process on a frequent basis, working with an Inhouse payroll system
  • Coordinates payroll administration verification and control activities
  • Responsible for the alignment of local legislation for all HR administration processes
  • Report relevant management reports regarding HR administration, manage audits.

Project management

  • Initiates, plans, executes and coordinates various local projects
  • Ensures the correct introduction and implementation of developments within the organisation


Desired profile

  • Higher education, with experience of managing a large team of HR and payroll experts, acquired within a multi-site international group.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Payroll Manager for the Netherlands, leading a minimum of a team of 8.
  • In dept knowledge of Dutch payroll rules and regulations
  • Fluent English and Dutch; both are a must
  • Organised, pragmatic, ready to work in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Ability to make proposals.
  • Excellent communicator and recognised for having good interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in working with SAP/ECP would be an advantage
