Role Objective

The Functional Analyst is responsible for analyzing existing applications and translating business needs into clear and consistent functional designs. The role supports re-engineering initiatives and acts as a key interface between business stakeholders, development teams, and technical engineers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze how existing applications support the client’s business processes.
  • Develop functional specifications for the re-engineering of existing applications.
  • Define and document interfaces between front-end applications and image generator applications (e.g. Unreal-based environments).
  • Create functional designs and detailed designs (in English).
  • Develop test scenarios and test scripts based on functional and detailed designs.
  • Support and guide testing activities (including User Acceptance Testing).
  • Proactively identify opportunities for improvement in systems and processes.
  • Collaborate closely with functional analysts, software developers, testers, and technical engineers.
  • Present proposed solutions to clients, and to application developers and infrastructure engineers.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships.

Must-haves

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Functional Analyst role.
  • Proven experience with analysis of existing applications and systems.
  • Proven experience with re-engineering projects.
  • Proven experience with writing functional and detailed designs.
  • Experience in defining interfaces between systems.
  • Experienced in working within a Scaled Agile Framework.
  • Excellent documentation skills with a focus on clarity and consistency.
  • Experience in writing test scripts and defining testing approaches.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to present complex information in a structured and understandable way.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken (writing functional and detailed designs; presenting solution approaches).
  • Proactive and self-driven.
  • Able to take initiative.
  • Strong customer focus and relationship-building skills.
  • Team player.
  • Possession of a European passport.
  • Must be eligible to pass a security screening required for working with Defense.
  • Clean background (no legal or security concerns).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Onboard Ship Systems.
  • Familiarity with terminology used in international shipping/maritime sector.
  • Proficiency in Dutch (spoken and written).

Extra:

  • Working from Client’s location as well at the Partner location.
  • Occasionally travel (lodging) is required.
