Azure Data Engineer – Freelance/ZZP

Function: Azure Data Engineer

Location: Utrecht

Hours per week: 36 hours

Languages: Dutch is required + English

Description: What exactly will you be doing?

• You'll work in Azure Databricks and dbt (a data building tool) to make and keep data available and clean for the team.
• You'll standardize data processing processes where possible.
• You'll build and maintain logical and technical data models and data quality frameworks, and you can implement these in Power BI dashboards or reports.
• You'll actively contribute ideas on how the team can simplify, improve, or standardize their processes.
• You'll coach the team on technical best practices, such as working in Git or automating processes.
• You'll stay up-to-date on the latest developments in your field and take the initiative to bring these forward or apply them at relevant times.

Requirements (Must-Have)

• Actively worked as a cloud data engineer on at least one assignment (≥ 2 years).
• Demonstrable work experience with Databricks (≥ 2 years).
• Demonstrable work experience with Python and/or PySpark (≥ 2 years).
• Demonstrable work experience with SQL (≥ 2 years).
• Demonstrable work experience in data modeling techniques, data warehouse automation, data integration, and data retrieval (≥ 2 years).
• Demonstrable work experience with DBT (≥ 1 year).
• Demonstrable work experience with Infra-as-Code (IaC) and Azure DevOps pipelines (≥ 1 year).
• Demonstrable work experience at the intersection of business and IT (≥ 1 year).
• At least 1 year of demonstrable work experience with Agile, Scrum, and in a DevOps organization.

Desired (Nice-to-Have)

• Cloud data engineer on ≥ 2 assignments (≥ 3 years).
• Experience with Databricks, Python/PySpark, SQL, and DBT across multiple assignments (≥ 3 years).
• Demonstrable work experience in data modeling, data warehouse automation, data integration, and data retrieval across multiple assignments (≥ 3 years).
• Experience with IaC and Azure DevOps pipelines (≥ 2 years).
• ≥ 2 years demonstrable experience with Power BI.
• Knowledge of/affinity with financial statistics processes (≥ 6 months).
• Knowledge of/affinity with data science and at least 2 completed data science projects (≥ 6 months each).
• Knowledge of/affinity with sustainability themes (≥ 1 assignment).

Formal Requirements

• Completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Science, or related.
• Must have completed Azure AZ-900.
• Must hold Azure Certificate DP-203.
• Must have an MSDN enterprise version.
• Excellent command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written.
